Any one know why a newer front master cylinder wouldn't work on a 250r, say a 400ex or a 300ex?

I agree you can use just about any master you want. You just have to adapt it to the hose . So take it to your auto parts store and go through there brake connector stuff. And you should be able to find what you need to hook it up.

yes..in fact I recommend using newer ones of quads.

Im using a TRX300 (crappy quad--nice front master cylinder lol) which ahd hydraulic drums far as I know...works with my discs!

Hey Rocketman -

Check this out on ebay - it's brand new and it even has a brake-light switch built into it (not that you'll need it, I just thought it was cool if you ever got the crazy idea to make it street legal).
It looks like this guy has lots of them. This one is ending soon but nobody has bid on it yet. Seems like a good deal for ~$40 bucks. Check it out if you want:

Good luck!

Well that is kind of interesting, but the discription says it fits 3/8 inch bars. Think that is to small to fit ATV bars.

Ooops, sorry man, I guess I overlooked the bar diameter... :(
I just read through it quickly and thought it might help you. Perhaps there is some way they can be adapted? I don't know...
Anyway, sorry to mislead you.
