Last thing on my list of getting this tecate ready for the weekend is my jetting. I know you guys cannot jet it for me or tell me what to run, but I want to know if what I have is close to stock.

My bike is an 84 and and from all I the research I have done it looks to be a stock 85 34mm mikuni carb and it is running a 190 main jet.

Were I bought the bike is lower elevation than were I live and it seemed right on, my couple test rides here it seemed a bit rich both high and low and the plug was a bit dark and one ride before i cleaned it was a bit wet.

From looking at the plug I would say I am safe, just not optimum, but this weekend trip will be at the dunes than are very close to were I purchased it.

I would like to know what the stock jet size is, and maybe some advice to what you guys are running.

All my carb experience is with the Kein carbs, and I actually got a bigger kein (around 36mm) with the bike, but I want to go ride and have some fun this weekend then I will think about swapping them.

Oh and yes my stupid mikuni is leaking, as it seems with alot of others here that dislike them. I have adjusted and adjusted the damn float, I think I need to take the float "arm" thing off and bend it L shaped were it hits the needle. I will be working on that most of today...

Here is the factory jetting strait from the OEM manual:

Main Jet 230
Pilot Jet 45
Needle 6FJ50, 4th groove from the top
Float Height 23.8 +/- 1mm
Slide Cutaway 2.5

190 main on yours seems pretty small especially with a pipe and open air filter assembly.

When I was looking at the 3ww spec page I must have clicked the wrong one because I thought the 84 had a 32mm mikuni and the 85 had a 34mm, now that I recheck it the 84/85 had a 32mm kiehn and the 86/87 had a 34mm mikuni. I am sure it is the 86/87 34mm mikuni.

I have the OEM 86 manual at my brothers house. I'll try and get it and post the carb info.

Did you measure the inside of the carb bell to verify its a 34mm?

Yes it is for sure a 34mm and it doesn't have the air mixture adjustment screw either, everyone bitches about that on the stock 86/87 tecate carb. I don't mean it is missing either it just doesn't have one at all.
