Does anyone know the correct make and model of spark plug to use for my stock 1985 250R? I didn't see it on the specification pages of 3wheeler sites. I am told I'm runnning the wrong spark plug and should change it.

I am running an NGK but don't know which model. I was told to use a Champion spark plug... ?
Anyways I looked on the NGK website and they have the following listed for a 1985 250R:
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/apps/atvs/results.asp?engineid=84
Standard BR9ES
Fine Wire BR9EV
VX Platinum BR9EVX

Is there an advantage to using a resistor plug on a 250R? The plugs listed on NGK's website are resistor plugs, but you say to use a B8ES? Also is there any advantage to using a hotter plug (8) instead of the cooler plug (9) that NGK lists on their website?
Do you run BR8ES on a 250R or Banshee?

kasey: Should I go with the BR8EG for my stock 85 250R motor? Or should I use a B8ES or BR8ES or the BR9ES as listed on the NGK site?
I will also be replacing my 1986 200X spark plug. The NGK site has the DR8ES-L listed, is this the one to go with?

The r just stands for resistor for radio interference. So when you are riding around the neighborhood people wont hear your engine running on there tv and radios.
And on my sleds i use to carry two sets of plugs with me depending on outside temp the br8es and the br9es. But sence i have switched to Champions n2c and thats all i run now. They work in all heat ranges with out fouling out.
And on the 200x i run the DR8ES-L and i replace it about once a year.

the eg plugs are more expensive than a regular plug , so i don't know if it is really nessesary in anything but a racing application,,,,, my local parts guy gave me these to try ,,,,

I've only ever had two bad plugs in my ATV's- one Champion and one Splitfire. These were defective not fouled. The Splitfire lasted two rides and cost seven dollars.

I use NGK BR8ES in my 85' 250R, my girlfriend has a Banshee and I use B8ES on that.
