Ok i have about had it with my 350x. I have been spending as much time as i could trying to get it running. I was even so mad the other day i told the wife to get the camara so i could some pictures of it for e-bay. The kid i got it from has got eveything so screwed up on it. Bolt`s and pieces are missing for the decompression setup. Bolt`s are missing from the side covers and the rocker cover. Bolt`s are striped out. And who know`s what they screwed up inside of it. But the kid told me the one time he did get it started pull starting it. That it shifted hard. So they might have the tranny screwed up on it to. So i am not to thrilled to throw any money at it. But the sad thing is the rest of the trike is not that bad at all. So i am thinking on keeping the motor i have for part`s. And just buying one of them new 350x motor off of e-bay. What do you guy`s think. And could anyone tell me if the 86 350x will fit in the 85 frame. I think it should but would like to be sure before putting out $1000.00 for a motor. And if this dosnt fix the pos. I am going to shoot it and buy a quad LOL.

hey fuzzy,
as far as i know, a 86 motor will fit in a 85 frame, i think you have to try the 85 motor mounts but it will mount right up. if you get too fet up with it you can buy my running 86 350x. lol good luck man

I just got one for 300 big ones. I got a brand new 85 motor to put in my 86 frame. right now I'm just waiting for mounting bolts. The thing turns over so freely and I can just tell it is going to be a great motor. Just make sure you get a good look at what you are buying. Good luck dude

Well Fuzzy
You got your self a nice bike.
sounds like miner damage.
I'd take the time and tare down the eng.
and see what is bad, an see what it will cost.
On striped bolts you can heeley coil.
(install heeley coil using liquid steel):nono: :D

fuz i feel like u do. I got my trike and it ran great, and i rode, then it broke and i got to taking it apart. I got er running but now i'm scared, its about to go. I've been thinking about a motor, crate brand new, i feel i'd be worth it just to have a new motor i could take care of and know what has been done to it. but i think a new head, cam, and valve job may be all i need. but thats not too far off in price in getting that crate motor. it does come with everything, motor wise goes right? tranny, head, pretty much everything but the frame and such? I do need a new truck, but I really need my trike running like it should too. PRIORITIES, AINT THEY A BEACH.:wtf:

UMMMMM!!!!!!!!!! NO LOL:D
Bonzdo350x I hear what you are saying. It seems like no matter if you go with a new motor or rebuild your old one it ends up costing you a bundle. And its no fun wrenching on them when every one else is out riding. Ah well the price we pay to have fun i guess. :( .

How's the rest of the bike? If it's in good shape I'd put a new engine on. If you could find one for under $500 that wouldn't be bad. I don't think I'd try to fix the old engine if it's been tampered with alot, you can spend a fortune replacing internal parts and still have a patched up engine. It's a sick feeling to spend alot of money and time on something and it still not be right. Judging by the careless damage done to the external, the inside could be worse. Sometimes it's better to just bite the bullet and avoid the headache later. ;)
