There are no 3-wheeler parts that i know of to do it. Unless there is a 250cc Honda quad with a manual clutch that you could steel the side cover off of. So that it would have the lever on there to run the clutch. Then you would have to pull your centrifical clutch out. Or figure out a way to rig it direct so that it turns the main clutch all the time. And then use the lever on the new side cover to release and engauge the main clutch.
But personaly i think it would be a lot of work to convert. And the benefit of doing it would be very slight.

I would keep a eye on ebay and see if you can pick up a side cover.

Nope the side covers are different as far as i know. The only one that may work would be a 350x. But you would have to compair one to yours and see if the bolt pattern is the same. I heard that the 350x and the 300ex were very similar. But i dont know how they compair to the 250sx.

Or just look on ebay i see 350x side covers on there all the time. And look at the picture of it and see if it looks anything like the side cover on your sx.

If its on this side, i think that it's not compatible with 85-86 350x

But do i need the side cover?
I only change the interior of the tranny. if i take the clutch of a 200x or of a 350x and if my 250sx side cover fit everything should be ok!
is that true?:ugh:
If i don't make a mistake, by only changing the clutch, everything should goes well or their is some complication that i don't know.

why would you want a manual 250sx

You would have to modify the 250sx side cover to have something to connect the cluth cable to.
This sounds like one of those projects where you could spend more money and time than a 350x costs.

if you just want more power then stick a 300cc jug off of any honda 4x4 or other 300cc quad. Let me know if it works...I'm told it's a bolt on. :D

Hey no problem there is nothing wrong with trying to mod something to soot your driving needs.
And yes you would need a side cover because it has the clutch slave to engauge and disengauge the clutch.
A good tip i learned from Hrc200x is on a auto clutch to push down the shift lever so it goes in to gear. But dont let up on it. As long as the lever is down the clutch wont engauge. And you can rev up the engine and then let up on the lever. And it works just like a manual clutch. Great for doing burnouts and launching when racing. And you dont have to do any mods to the tranny for it to work. I do it with mine all the time to spin cookies.
I think your barking up the rong tree. you should be looking at dirt bikes. 84-86 250, for interchangeable covers and clutch parts.

I have yet to break a gear doing it. All it does is keep the main clutch from spinning. While your centifacal clutch engauges. So as soon as you let up on the lever it engauges the main clutch. No harder on the gears then poping the clutch on a manual clutch machine.

Holding down the shifter will not do anything to the gears. The honda auto clutches are actually two clutches in one. There is a cyntrifical clutch for starting and stoping from a dead stop, and a standard plate type clutch connected to the shifter. The plate clutch ingages when the shifter is moved, so the gears can shift. When you hold the shifter down (or up) it is the same as pulling the lever on a standard manual clutch. the only thing you do not have is a lot of control when you release it.

Try a xl 250 or an xr250..
You could try to convert a dirt bike motor to a shaft drive.
All shaft drive is, is a differential on the sprocket.
I think this would be an easier feat then getting a side case.
But a 250sx with a manual clutch:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
Thats like saying a 250r thats shaft drive:doh:

i'll about all those ideas. first i'll try to fide a compatible side cover, then if i dont find one ill try to custumize my side cover if i can do something.
if after all those tries i don't have a good result, ill think about making a dirt bike engine or another engine shaft drive.
ummm that's sound to be a really big challenger for me!!:yup:
I'll give you more details when i'll got some test done

You might be able to find a small street bike motor with shaft drive. But like you said you are kind of getting in to some serious modding.

I mentioned trying to do this before, just as a project. In the next couple of months I'll be looking for a blown XR/XL 250 motor in the local salvage yards. If I get it for a good price I'll disect it and let you guys know what's interchangeable and what's not.
You can also look at street bike shaft drive eng. see if the sx jug will bolt up and if the rod or crank will interchange.
I think they just had a longer through and a taller jug.
same year probly same crank case.

Fuzzy : ill check them too.
MXC495 : great, that's sound interesting:headbang:
Dads : like i said to Fuzzy, i'll check them.
now, i only got one prob. i don't know any7 street bike who are on shaft drive. Can someone list me some?
