I just got a call from my local machine shop. $125.00 for an '82 R jug. Sounds high to Me.

I paid $60 (I think it was around that) to a machinist @ carquest last spring.

Call those places that have welding and machining services. If they have the bore bar they should be able to handle it easy and maybe cheaper.

I pay $40 for a bore & hone at Reichert Engines, Springfield, Illinois (217) 523-4337. You can call and verify. My local ATV shop (Wes Long Racing, Jacksonville, Illinois (217) 243-0449) sends them down the street to a machinist for a $50 bore & hone. Seems like you could be getting it done for much less.

Dammit!

$125 sounds high. Was that for sleeve installed. That is close to what it costs to send off for that. Piston and bore possible?
Just for bore/hone...it is high.

Yeah I've wondered about these bore costs myself,I once had a 110 jug bored at this small cycle shop,it cost $75 for bore & hone,& set up rings. He done an A1 job but I thought it was a little steep, and I looked all over but none of the machine shops I called could do a cylinder that small.

Guys, Im not THAT stupid ! :saywhat: I supplied the piston. The bore was $90, the other $35 was to pull a seized/stuck bushing out and re-face the bottom of the jug. He said the gasket was glued on... Whatevs, I doubt I will be going back any time soon. I was expecting closer to $75.00. Either way, it's done and I will be installing it this weekend. Should I get a new torque wrench or use my old flex-needle type? :wtf:

4 strokes are $40 here
and 2 strokes are $50-55.

But I always have to chamfer or relieve my ports when I get my 2 stroke jugs back. They charge an extra 20-30 to relieve the ports.

I pay $50 here to my local automotive machinist... He does a great job with the bore and hone(i check his work), but because he is a 4-stroke guy I have to chamfer my own ports..
