I've never had one break since I bought my first 110 in 1982. They're cheap to buy, get a spare JIC. :oldfogey:

Please don't be one of them that want to save a few pennies on repairing your shifter. I just dred even working on somebody else trike when I see that crap. That is the first thing I look for when I purchase a future project, it shows me how good of care it has had in the past. I've done it, but it takes talent and skill to clean up the shaft splines after some redneck thought it was easier to weld it. Just save yourself headaches in the future and get a correct replacment shifter.

Same thing is up with my 110. I got a new brand new shift and put it on after puting a 10.9 bolt in it so it wouldn't strip when i cranked it down. After about a week it came loose and i couldn't shift so i took it off and looked at it, the splines where all worn just like the last one. I put it back on out of curiosity and looked how it lined up. the top groves line up but the bottem ones end up on top of each other. I think the shaft is a tad worn or something. do i weld it or get a new shaft and hope for the best? It's olny a temorary ride until i get a X.

Just replace the shaft. All you have to do is pull the RH cover and it slides right out. I have those parts for days, they should be easy to find.

The right hand cover? I'm really low on money and don't make it fast either. Saving up for an x. I'd rather get a cam but i'll buy the shaft first.

I might end up making a keyway(larg square grove) on both the shaft and shifter with a square metal rod that i can insert between the two groves. Foget what it's called. It's how the front gear on my old minibike stayed put.

snapon,I may have your shaft. Will check my garage in the morning. Before ya start borrow an impact driver if ya don't have one or you're gonna round the heads off the 9 phillips screws that hold the right side case/clutch cover on.They probably cost $25.00 new and are a great addition to any toolbox. When ya go to put it back together replace the phillips heads w/new allen head drive screws. You'll need seven 6mx20mmx1.00 pitch and two 6mx40mmx1.00pitch for the replacement.Total cost less than $5.00 for the replacements. This is really an easy fix, hour tops and far more professional than a weld job.You will need to drain the oil.And it's called a keyway and Woodruff key.

Sorry snapon I've led you astray. One thing I forgot to mention was you will need the clutch nut tool to remove the clutch. For this I apologize. But if you have it or can borrow one I have the shaft you need.It is SPINDLE, GEARSHIFT Honda Part #24610-080-010
