i have a honda 200m, i recently replaced the cdi module the engine runs smooth under light loads, but when i accelerate to full throttle, it bogs and dies out. also at high speed it pops and starts smoking. i have cleaned the carb., set the timing, and checked the compression. but i still have this problem. could it be the coil. i have purchased the manual and the coils checked ok. the have set the carb. floats and needle jet. help!

Did you do both the coil tests? (primary & secondary)

Your coil wire might also be breaking down. I assume you've replaced the plug with the factory spec one. If you have enough slack you might try cutting the tip off the wire and reattaching the boot just in case the end is frayed or something.

Do you have an inline fuel filter? If so it might be clogged & restricting full flow.

Have you tried movng the needle jet up a notch to give it more fuel. It sounds like it is running too lean.

It sounds like it might be in the pulse generator on the side of the head. It adjust your timing as the engine speeds up like a vacume advance does on a car motor distributor. It might be stuck. Try pulling the cover off of it and see if it will rock back and forth a bit.
