i was putting the head back on my friends big red and had a small problem the 4 caped nuts that go on the studs in the case and all the way up threw the head weel on of the studs was turned out of the bottem and when i put the nut on it poped the cap off it

what should i do take the head off and try to put the stud back in all the way or should i just torque it to spec and be done with it

also what is the torque specs i was told 29 footpounds

If you have not hightened down the head already, the gasket can be reused "if not torqued"
I would pull the head, put two nuts on top threds lock the nuts screw the studs back in. you do not what too rick pulling the threads in the crank case.

If all the washers are on and the studs were screwed all the why in the only thing it could be is bolt strech. put two washers on. if the bolt don't brake your all set.

Get all four. they are around 8.00 each.
you need two 10x156 #80925-001
and two 10x166 #81004-001
If one is bad the others are close
They make good spares ,just incase.

at least one full tank. drive it around for 5-10min at a time & let it cool off completely in between. never ride at a steady rpm. don't use full throttle (opinions vary on that).
