Has anyone thought of having it done? I found a place that can do it in chrome colors and make it flexible..

So what's the thoughts on how it would work out and look?

How would it look? Probably pretty darn cool! How would it work out? Personally, I'm very skeptical. I know there are people here who say they have had some success painting plastic gas tanks. But getting any paint or coatings to stick long term to polyethylene/polypropylene fenders is a real problem. Maybe they've figured out something new though...? Let us know if you decide to try it out - we need a guinea pig! ;) :D

Like the plastic chrome that is used on car and motorcycle trim and that sore of thing? Last time I looked at having a couple of motocycle cover redone it was very expensive.

I'm not sure if I would do it but was kinda wonder how it would hold up. I know I've seen a few FMX bikes done it it, but nothing that sees real world use..

The powder coating shop that I use, just started chroming plastic, wood, ceramic tile, etc..

I'm going to have him coat a 250R tank to check it out. I'll post some pics when it's done. I saw a plastic skull like the ones that are on a medical school skeleton and it way very cool.

He told me that he will have special pricing for groups like ours. I'll keep you posted.

ask him if the gas fumes that seep through the tank will bother the chrome.

I'd be interested in seeing it and seeing how it holds up to the "bumps" plastic takes..

If its true'lly chrome, like the 3 step chemical dip process used for metal, the paint fumes wouldn't bother it, that is if they dipped it inside and out. That would seal the tank 100%.

The bigger question though is, is it flexible with out cracking?
