View Full Version : electric start troubles, 225dx

Just got an 85 225dx. The pull start works fine, but I want electric start. I took out the old junk battery, and replaced it with a brand new GS brand fully charged battery. I tried it and the engine turns over, and over, and over, But it doesn't fire up. iv'e tried w/ choke, giving gas, tried it all warmed up, no success. Any ideas??

does it crank over fast or slow.

seems to be normal crank. i tried the decompression lever today too, it still doesn't work. its frustrating

It needs a new neutral safety switch on the starter solenoid it toast.

They have electric start? I sooo wish ours still did!

yup neutral switch, that sounds like the issue. Because when i put the new battery in, the newutral green light stays on all the time, through all the gears and neutral. I'll try to find a switch, thanks !
