First off... I've read it all. Every possible thread here and at 3WW (including jetting 101). But after 3 days of the ever elusive "correct jetting" I cant figure it out.

'85 350x, stock engine (never opened), K&N air filter (with precharger due to the dust around here). Just installed a new Supertrapp (which is what caused the rejetting). 8 discs and the damn thing still "pops" on deceleration. 45 pilot & 142 main, lowered the clip one notch. Messed with the air screw to no end.

Popping is a sign of running rich? So should we raise the clip? Add discs? Help!

The good news.... man is she peppy! She might be throwing me off more then she usually does this year.

Also, I figured it wouldnt hurt to add, so here's a vid for some audio.

I know it is like the never ending question about jetting but any tips you have would be great!

Popping is from a lean mixture. Go larger with the main jet. start with 2 or 3 sizes higher. Get WFO dialed, then if needed, mess with the needle height and pilot jet.

Your main seems a bit lean if your not running the airbox lid..... You'll get a bit more gusto without that lid as it can be jetted even more rich.

If it pops on decelleration, sometimes turning that airscrew out just a 1/4 to 1/2 turn does the trick.

It is best to start at the main though.....

We're running with the lid on and we've tried the airscrew in every possible position. Taking it apart again this afternoon, going to put the needle back at stock get the main situated and go from there. She's good everywhere else except decelerating.

Make sure the goes airscrew, spring, washer, oring and that the oring is in good shape.....
