I bought a pair of 350x forks off of ebay in case one of the ones on my '85 was bent. they both spring just fine, but one makes more of a "sliding" noise than the other. Rebuild time?
I also need both the top caps with the air fittings on them. The ones on these are thrashed & just have screwed wedged down in there.

DAN they might not have enough oil or any oil . i would flush them out good if the seals aren't wet , then put the right amount of the right oil and see what happens,,,,,,,,

without seeing or hearing them i'm speculating but i would guess the bushings are worn. even forks with no oil should not make noise. (no i don't run them like that but when i rebuild them i move them up and down before adding oil) there are two bushings inside the forks. a inner bushing and a outer bushing. these bushings are made of brass and coated with a teflon coating. when the coating wears off (from age, lack of oil, or bent tube) your left with brass rubbing on steel or aluminum thus making noise. just adding oil will only mask a potential problem considering it only takes a few minutes to disassemble a fork and inspect it seems like the best aproch.
by the way i have extra caps if you need them

I wish I could make a recording or something. One is pretty quiet. How much for the caps Bill?
Can I still get these bushings & how much should I expect to spend for that?
thanks!

Dan- they're part number 11 on the partsfish 350x fork drawing, and partsfish sells them for $8.55. I just bought one from them a few months ago, so I believe they're still readily available.
Dan Recognize that sound. It’s a shock with no oil in it.
even if you drain some thing out it wont be oil.
 :lmao:
