If a 4 stroke three wheeler is going to be sitting over the winter am I better off draining the gas tank or leaving it full? (OEM metal tank, not plastic).

Thanks

You're better off leaving it full & putting in some fuel stabilizer or leaving it full & draining the tank at the beginning of the next season.

Either way make sure the petcock is OFF and you drain the carb.

I personally always have used a heated garage.

heres what you need to do:

drain carb bowl

keep petcock on OFF (always should anyways)

Put a little stabilizer in it.

jsut remember it only takes THREE months for gas to go bad and only hours after that for damage to take effect.

Question: why not enjoy winte riding!?!?! :) ;) ;)

Best answer to that question is...Ride that sucker all year long. :headbang: But if you must park it I agree with both.

Hey Chainsaw, you guys out on the west end obviously do better than we do here here on the east end, hell if we get any snow it usually turns to slush within a day or two... usually we just get ice storms! Besides if I tear up the yard my wife will kill me!

Geez, don't shut off you're petcock and drain the carb. That will most certainly result in clogging up your jets. Just fill the tank up full, put in some stabilizer, run it until it gets all through the fuel system(especially the carb) and then top it off and store. Stabilizer is made for a reason and it works.

in goes the stabilizer if it must be stored  run it then run it with the petcock turned off that way all the gas in the carb is burned (when its burned up it will shut off due to lack of gas).

Well Yamachuck, you have a point. Put the stabilizer in, fill it up, run it around some, cut off the petcock, drain the carb, then top off the tank.

This way the tank won't rust and any residual gas in the carb will have the stabil in it.

You might also want to look at a engine fogger. It helps to keep the cylinder and internal parts of the motor from rust while it is sitting.
