I have a Clarke tank that I want to mount on my 1984 200X but it has no mounting hardware? The stock metal tank had the two studs that screwed into the frame and the two rubber grommets that held the top of the seat into place but this new tank only has a metal tab on the front of the tank near where the top of the seat would be. Without those studs the seat and tank are loose and could possibly vibrate off? Is there supposed to be mounting hardware or do they expect you to use zipties?

This tank came with my bike when I purchased it for an extra 50 bucks brand new. Not bad for something that retails for about 200 bucks. Looking at the pictures from the Clarke website, it doesn't metion or show any hardware in the description anywhere? Anybody know an answer to this little quandry?

Sorry Camo but the tank pins and grommets are part of the bike and not something Clarke included with the tank.

So how did they intend to hold it down without the seat coming off?

I'm almost 100 percent sure it's the right one because it looks like the ones that people have on ebay for there personal stores. BUT I think I figured out how they are held on. You do use the stock mounting hardware. But instead, they supplied a rubber mounting strap that had two holes on each end that used the two studs to hold the tank down. The two rubber grommets were also used to hold the seat down. Question now, is where can I get one of those rubber straps? All it seems to be is a bungee cord that has two holes in each end? Maybe I can make one? This plastic I think looks more sporty then the stock one, plus the stock one is is rusted out leaving me with lots of garbage at the bottom of the tank.

You may have to get a little creative to mount the tank..

my 200x clarke tank came with a small rubber strap that went from the steel pin to the other across the end of the tank under the seat .
