I was wondering if you had to remove the motor to do it. Any input is appreciated.

NO! Why would you ask that? I would have put this in the classifieds if I wanted to sell parts. I'm looking to do a top end on my DR. I just want a little feedback.

Sorry 'bout that Dynofox. Must have been that 2nd cup of coffee kicking in. My bad. And Sean, I' may tap into some of your experience doing this on a 225. I hate to do it. The bike runs so good. It's just smoking a little too much for my tastes.
Anyone w/ trans advice?? My 225 DR is not working properly. I need some ideas on where to start.
First is down 1 gear, then up 2 (thru neutral) to second. It will also go into reverse in any gear. It also goes instantly into gear, no lag/neutral between gears. I know this is not correct, but i need some ideas on where to start my trouble shooting.
THANKS

Man, you have got me Mike. My only thought is that the motor/trans is off an enduro 225 Yamaha. Heck I have no idea.
I thought about that. The reverse still works, so i don't think it has a different trans in it.
I have a few people w/ parts in Syracuse if you need parts, and a guy in Central Square that is a great mechanic. If you need anything I can get you #'s, let me know.
Hey all of us are from NY!!!! COOL!!!

Mike, I'll keep you in mind if I need parts in the future. I have access to a couple of great graveyards up here so I should be all set for a while.

Exactly what did you do for your top end? Did you go with a stock piston or maybe a Weisco? Or just the rings? Also did you replace your valve seals?

Well mik6 i say if it aint broke dont fix it. If it is working in all the gears and all. What is the stock shift pattern suposed to be on the 225.
And the trans cant be out of a bike because none of them came with reverse.
I wonder if someone had the trans apart and either put a shioft fork in wrong or has a gear on a shaft backwards. But like i said if it works fine run it. As long as you arnt getting any metal shaving out of the tranny oil.

I put in a new wiseco, 10.5:1. I didnt replace the valve seals, probably should have though....
The trans., should be all up to shift..
SEAN,
I'll trade tecate labor/knowlege for DR/DX labor/knowlege. LOL
Have you done anything to a DR/DX trans? I am still looking for ideas. I know it should be all up w/ a DR.
LET ME KNOW
