'85 air filter

As I start to tinker on my son’s bike I am finding some little issues. I took the air filter out. The air cleaner cylinder housing was full of debris but what happened is the sponge filter is dry rotted and disintegrated in my hand. Where can I get a replacement? Do the Honda shops carry these kinds of parts? I am thinking maybe get a foam filter from a lawn mower. On these bikes would I soak them in oil then ring it out?

For what its worth, I stopped in my local Honda dealer and they had the OEM filter in stock: Part # 17211-098-771 $6.44

PEOPLE OFTEN THINK ITS THE DEALER SO ITS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE,,, hell it was a buck cheaper and no shipping,, can't beat that,,
