lets discuss the leak problems on these trikes. i am oh so tired of the mess! i have heard from Jim about some w/double rings instead of single. how many of you have these and how are they working?? both my Rs (well Missys and mine haha) leak very bad. and the crap is everywhere. so, lets hear it frm those that have handled this problem!!

i have 2 esr exhaust flanges with the double o rings and neither leak.also heard good things about the stainless flanges ducann sells there not suppose to wear out as quick.on my stock flanges i used the red silicon and it worked good to stop the leaking i put on and let it set for a day before i started motor .

Yeah, it's been said before on here and I know from experience, that the aluminum flanges wear thin and wear out. I'll be buying the Duncan this next time around.

Been running a billet ESR double o-ring flange for a few years now. No leaks and no obvious signs of wear.

I got an ESR and it leaks like a SOB. The Ugly ebay is much better than ESR IMO.

Ok guys i gota a thougth for you all.

Duncan has one that dosnet wear out and its steel. Now i have never had an alum one wear out but lets say i did. Now i replace it for the $45(ish) and im back good.

The steel one on the other hand dosent wear out. SO instead the pipe would. Now your looking at replace a pipe at the cost of whatever that pipe would be (if you could find it).

Just a thought

For those of you with leaking o-ring exhaust flanges:

I would suspect the expansion chamber flange before I go blaming the o-ring exhaust flange for any leakage issues. If the flange on the expansion chamber is out of round or wasn't made to the proper tolerances to begin with, that could be the source of your leakage also.

i am gonna check that out too. also for debre. i did none of that before putting these pipes on. doing the carb tuning and getting double ring flanges too.

Not my problem. For some reason the ones that leak for me leak with any pipe. the ones that dont, dont leake with any pipe.

i have had as many pipes as anyone,, and most of the time the pipe does not fit like it should,, nice and snug on the flange,, and straight,,, if the pipe fits good and the tolerances are proper chances it won't leak,,,

things to think about,, the bike i ride never leaks,, the ones the kids and wife leak ,,, its exhaust gas temprature i run harder keeping the EGT higher so no spooge,,, on the other hand the wife and kids don't ride as hard and sometimes they leak,, not always either,,,

black orings are not the way to go,they are not intended to be used in hi heat places,, none of the oringed flanges use them,, its the red silicone orings you want,,, with a dab of hi-temp silicone you can solve most leaks,,
