1983 250R what would you do?

Hi,

I need some help.
I have 83 250R and was going to drop the big bore kit. Upgrade the carb and rejet. I was planning on spending 1000 with just motor upgrades.:doh: But I also thought why not just sell the 83 and put some extra money and buy a 86 250R water cooled.

What do you guys think?
I wAnt to gain some speed and beat my buddies 350X

i air R will beat a 350X.... air R's have cool properties to them! there are many here on this site with money in them. if you like a challenge take it on... if you want to win ever battle...or near every battle, get a water cooled. I beat many bikes on my old 83 250R, you can port the tar out of them. and the 300R kits run great!

that craigslist post looks like its just a normal 250 jug and head looks like the foam is for a 300 kit though but thats not.

Better bring that X to oregon dunes next time. X's are seriously fun bikes to ride, but will never be fast compared to the R's, air or watercooled.

I will have to swallow my pride and say this about Nos's bike tho... before I ever rode with him I thought NO WAY woulda 350X ever beat a 250R.... At the FIRST westcoast trike rally in glamis I watch him beat up on many 250R's from watercooled to air, his bike could run with a 250R with a pipe... very impressive.
