OK, I put the 85 200x back together. It runs, and starts on the first kick, but will not idle at all. I did rebuild the carb, so whats not adjusted right? The pilot screw? The idle screw? I tried messing with both of these to no avail. Isnt there something else on the inside to adjust? No one wants to take there 200x carb, and turn the screws until tight, and count the number of turns for me so I can get close to where they should be? Any other ideas?

Thats your air fuel mixture screw (pilot screw)
On the float, Thats so you can check to see if age has changed float hight.

cool...so i can tighten the pilot screw all the way, then back it out 2 1/4 turns then go from there. Any other ideas why it doesnt want to idle. I mean, if you let off the gas, it goes off like you have just turned the run switch to off...It doesnt even try...

It is either not getting enough gas or not enough air. My guess would be gas.

Turn your idel speed screw on the side of the carb all the way in. And then keep adjusting your idel mixture screw on the bottom front of the carb until you can get it to run by itself. Then turn your idel speed screw out until the idel comes down to where it should be.

If you still cant get it to stay running. I would guess there is still something stuck inside the carb. Did you run a wire through all the air passageways in the carb when you had it apart?. It dosnt take but a spec to plug them and cause all kinds of trouble like this.

When you turn in the screw on the side give it full throttle so you don't lock the slide in place.

Another thing you might want to check your timing and make sure the two marks are lined up.That was the problem with mine when it wouldnt idle:thumbsup:

would your not idle at all? I am pretty sure that mine is pretty close. It might be one or 2 teeth off, but i dont think so. Is 1 or 2 that bad...? Even though I dont think it is...I cannot for the life of me get the timing screw to look through out of the case...I have tried puttin all kinds of crap on it...oh well..

I had to take the bolts off the cam sprocket and rotate the chain one tooth made a big difference.I used to try and use a timing light and there is no need to do that just line the marks up:D
