First off - I am not motor literate
I want to buy a stck engine and build it bigger.
Does anyone have a list of every part I need to buy online / ebay / forum to get everything saved up and then build it at once.
What about a 310 or what ever runs good and is not a fussy motor.
Which head - CR 250 / ATC 250
Connect rod
dome head
carb
All these items
Any help would be appreciated.

I have been following build, and I would recommend a 310, I have had 2 in the past and will be building my 3rd here shortly. Its the best bang for your buck. No case mods, no custom crank, just find a solid bottom end, bolt on and ride. i am going to list 3 stages, as you are asking for.
first your head question. you use the 250R head with a 88 CR250 gasket. it will give you higher compression. However, you can also do a cool head and get everything, domes, better cooling, bling factor.
also you arent being clear on what you want, do you want to stay stock cylinder or move up? the 310 kits, you can do both, however many on the stock cylinders end up with heating problems and cracking cylinders.
for domes, it comes down to be matched with your porting, 20-21cc is what most applications will run.
heres your list from me for two engines
250R stock cylinder based machine
cool head with 20cc dome
vforce reeds
38-39 carb
ESR pipe/paul turner hi rev
good running stock cylinder, if you port it, they will run even better, there are some fast oem cylinder bikes out there, just has to be ported right.
esr310
20cc dome
vforce reeds
39mm keinin
pt hi rev/esr
my last 310 which ran for 4 years and only reason I say 4 years is I sold the bike so who knows..it could still be running. It was the follwoing
esr 310
had the trx9 port
20cc dome
vforce reeds
39.5mm carb
pt hi rev.
that was in a trx and it suprised MANY 450's and banshees

Does the 310 rev out as good as the 250 does? Or better?

a 310 will rev like crazy, a 370 with the stroker will have much more down low compared to a 310, More of a stockish feel to it, Just faster.

310 and a 250R rev about the same, yes the 250R is a milisecond faster, but a 310 doesnt feel like a slug at all, a 330 will and a 350 is even more, a 370 will rev faster then a stock stroke 350

Thats cool to know! I think i`m building my last 250, if it makes me smile then i`m cool, if not then it`s esr time! I`ve had 250s that i thought were scary fast. You just need a little bit of fear!!!!

Dude, it is so interesting to me that the shape of the ports has to do with the powerband! I`m so in to that right now! I just did it to my own jug and haven`t had it out yet. Show me the blueprints ? I know, it`s a secret, money, pm me if you like! I just raised the exaust ports a little, going out this weekend, fresh bore. i`ll let you know if the fear factor has returned.
