MR ATC...lol

Is there any real up-points to using the 86 swinger & frame?

how about usin the TRX swinger?

If you use one (85,86,or TRX)..you must use the ENTIRE rear assembly, correct?

the 85 swingarm is a one year only ,, everything is different, carrier, brakes, axle, sprocket ,,if everything you have is 85 and good i see no reason to switch,,,,,

well, Kase. I have nothing right now. I would like to know the chnages and/or advantages of the 86 over the 85 and the interchangability like i said.

Many thanks,
Rob

If you use the '85 setup you are stuck with everything 1985.

1986 have 100% interchangeability with the TRX stuff (including aftermarket :yup: )

Advantages include the vast number or TRX parts available (including the surplus of TRX extended swingarms, they will just bolt up if you run a '86 setup)

Although there are more parts out there the '86 has one drawback. The Caliper. If this part freezes up then you might have to shell out a bit more money to get a replacement.

the 85 and 86 caliper are the same. the mount is different but all you have to do is swap them. i have a 85 and 86. the 85 is a one off year but there are plenty of parts for it. the 86 is the same as the 86-87 trx. if i was going to buil on i would go 86 just for the aftermarket.

you can use either frame. the frames have minor differences that you will not really notice. the swing arm and brakes are the big deal. i have a 86 set up that i am about to put on my 85. if you do go 85 i have a +6 swingarm, axle, brake, basically everything.

Basket: I think you know your stuff so please tell me if this would work:

85 Frame, 86 Complete Rear End, 86 Front End. (?)

it will work great. all parts are just about interchangable. some are just different. the rear assembly just has to be swapped as a whole. the front forks on the 85 are two springs and the 86 are single spring.

Allrighty--yeah that what I meant with the rear end: everything from the swingarm to the axle (wiht the exception of hubs & brake DISK im sure?)

Thanks again,
