I am looking into bying an 84 250r, at a real good price. The guy says the cylinder was just bored and a new piston put in. he also said that some times it fires and sometimes it don't.... so it dosen't run now. my question is, if I bought this how much would it be worth and what do you think price on getting it fixed and everything.

To be honest: You really didnt say what was wrong with it.......and if "sometimes it fires & sometimes it doesnt"...thats the operator to me....Maybe it doesnt like to run real fast in the cold (cold blooded if you will).
But if thats the case (its a hard starter): carb kit, air cleaner or air cleaner cleaning, and msot likely some jetting changes: you oughta be jsut fine.
Good luck, buddy, & keep us updated!

Sorry if I wasn't clear on the problem... the guy that I am buying it from says that it is not getting spark to the plug. it won't even start. he told me that sometimes it will spark through a spark testor and sometimes it dosen't.. so it won't start. he is asking 550 for it and that is with me meeting him half way from upper ky to TN thanks alot for the help...... I just hope that it dosen't need a stator rewind...

mudfreak99 i have had it runnin , but it wouldnt stay runnin so i started with the carb , no fix, so then i went to eletrical , no fix so then the same day i bought my flywheel puller was the same day i bought my quads so the only reason im sellin it is because im tired of messin with it and am needin it outta of my way , i found a brand new ignition stator for it for like 70 bucks and that was gonna be my next buy but like i said im tired of workin on it but if you scared bout it and all dont buy it, wont hurt my feelings i can part it out for more than im askin but i really dont wanna go that route

i,am! it,s just getting daylight here and i was killing time, before i go outside. it sounded funny putting a battery on a 250r. BUT if a guy unplugged the stator, then plugged in battery (for power) it would run till the battery got low. so yes it would work. fyi; very few trike use a battery. never on a 250r. 250r is a stripped down lite weight hot rod. muscle trike of the 80,s

it only takes time. like now i have a shot at getting kawasaki klt 250a ???? not sure just what it is, but the gas tank is on the rear. it,s green and runs. needs a battery and what else???? good fenders, tires, lights. it only has a elec starter. never came with any other way of starting it. he wants 200.00. the only thing i,d do is part it out, but i dont even see these on e-bay. so everyone come on new things each day. i would have thought of hooking a battery to a 250r, but if you where dead and miles from home you could do it. that would get it out of the woods with out pushing. or get it to run at the shop. see you came up with a great idea! at 13
