I had someone rebuild a old 200s motor from the clutch up. Well Its been semi ok for the past few months but i noticed today there was oil all around where the head meets the cylinder. Also u can put ur hand next to it and feal air blowing out. it also seems to backfire near that area. What could this be. How much trouble. We bought a brand new gasket set but when we rebuilt the motor i went with a wiseco 12:1 was there supose to be a certain set of gaskets to handle the higher compresion? how hard of a job will this be. Will it have to come off the frame? What about timing and everything. If i have to get another gasket i can do that. But theres no way in hell i know how to time a bike. Let me know whats up and what i can do to fix this.

btw i see no power loss at all. it still has a **** load of compresion. Will it be safe to run as is. I dont want to mess anything up but ive spent sooooo much money on this bike. I just had to retube the tires not too long ago. Is there any cheap soutions. Like maybe get a welder to weld around the head and cylender. hehe i wont be rebuilding this thing again anyway. Next rebuild will be a 200x engine. i need a cheap solution

it's real important to lap the barrel and head sealing surfaces when you put that much squeeze on. i only run honda head gaskets and torque that thing down in sequence since there's not a lot of sleeve there to bite into the gasket.
the longer you run it i would think it would warp, i'd pull the head and re-gasket it and check surfaces for flatness.
have fun mark

I would retorque the head to see if the bolts are streching. they my be bad.

if i had to take the head off would i need to re time it. Also will it hurt if i ride it like this?

Yes you have to retime it but you put it at top dead center on the timing marks be for pulling head and it is just pull it and put it back on and the timing will be right were it is suppose to be. And I think I remember reading some were that going from 9.8: 1 up to a 12:1 requires a different head gasket. The stock ones can’t hold the pressure.

why would they have gone all the way up to that high compression? i could see doing it to a sportier trike, but a 200s? hmm, kinda like puttin a blower on a old 4 door sedan.

Tell u the truth i didnt know it was going to be a 12:1. I orderd some parts off ebay listed as 185s and it ended up being a 12:1 compresion piston. It was used but in good shape so we used it. I think i got a head for 20 bucks the piston was 10 and i got a timing chain for like 5. We didnt use the timing chain but the other parts were good.

new gaskets are cheap and easy. if you look int he tech sectiont here is a copy of the rebuild section of the 200x, it is almost the same. Fuzzt SWEARS the 200s motor is faster when built right then the 200x. :D
