Ok, got the idle problem fixed...now the clutch. First off, i cant pop a wheelie, so something is up. 2nd whenever I am going down the road, and shift, then hit the gas to maybe 3/4's it will rev a bit, then catch, and kinda go, then rev a little more, and go some more. I dont think its pulling to its full strenght. Also when i was doing some donuts today, and leaning into them, it would barely spin the wheels in 2nd...I have tried adjusting it...but i think its trash...any ideas? There is no way to tell without measuring the friction plates huh? I knew i should have done that while I had it a part...
Ajusting turn screw counter clock wiss till you feel tension back off
1/8 to 1/4 of a turn. if it still slips time for new clutch.

It's and 85' 200x that I have done a complete overhaul on. I didnt measure the clutch discs while i was in it like i should have...

HUMMMMM?????. Boy from what you described it sure sounds like your clutch discs are worn. But i think you can pull that side cover off of it without pulling the motor back out. And a new set of clutch discs are under $10.00 for it. So at worst you would only have to get the side cover gaskets again. But you might even be able to reuse the ones you have if you just put it together and didnt use any gasket sealer on them.

There is another old trick for getting a little more life out of the clutch. Pull the sidecover off, one at a time take out the screws for the springs and put a washer (or two) in to compress the spring. Put the screws back in and the clutch may work better for a while. Quick fix for very little money

well...i saw some stock replacement ones on denniskirk for like $13, and some performance versah ones for like $40. I think I will end up replacing it. I dont think i have to pull the motor, but I will need that special tool to take that lock nut loose. I didnt use any gasket sealer either, so I hope i can re-use the gaskets...

You can make one of them tools out of a old socket. Just grind it down until it fits on to the nut. Oh course i didnt think of that until some one told me after i order one of them sockets:doh: .
And hopefully your gaskets should be fine. If you need to put a little sealent on them when reinstalling them to make sure they dont leak.

wow..thats a pretty good idea. So would it actually do me any better to order the $40 versah clutches over the $13 stock ones....

Wow Dunerash where were you when i needed you LOL. I paid $17.00 to get one off of ebay.
As far as the clutches goes. I dont think you would need to go with the spendy ones unless you are planning on racing and have done lots of proformance mods to your machine the cheaper ones would get you by. But i kind of imagine that the spendy ones would probable last longer. So i guess it all depends on what you can afford to put in there.
The hight $ ones are disigned for a lot of clutch use. so they will last longer. Have you checked to see if they recommend stronger springs or just stock.

Awesome...Thanks man. i sent you an email.
So is there a way to measure the spings pressure? Should i just put new springs in too? When I am tightening the bolts down for each of the springs, I jusdt tighten them all the way right?
I am going to see about getting the clutch basket out as soon as I get the tool from Dunerash. When I measure the discs they should be no thinner than 2.6 mm, and i guess new ones are between 2.9-3.0 mm. I am anxious to find out. I am sure thats what the prob was. I tried adjusting that thing all over the place.

If i recall the way to check the springs was to measure how high they are to tell weither they have compressed any. But if you are in doute if they are good Honda sells them for about $2.50 each. So for around $10.00 you can get a new set to be sure.
As far as tightening them. They just tighten down all the way.
