I got the 350x running today and it runs great. Just needed a good tune up. I still have to change the oil. The drain plug is frozen on I have had Liquid wrench soking on it all day. i re- soaked it about every hour. Any other Ideas? or should i just keep on doing that? I just cant get it off.

Can you get a socket on it?. I would be carefull and take your time trying to get it off. If you strip it you will have to weld something on to it and turn that out. Or you could try that right away if you want. Weld a bolt on the drain plug and remove it. Then once you get the plug out. Cut the bolt off the plug and grind it down flush. And repaint the drain plug. Or you could drill through it and use a eazy out and try to turn it out with that. And get a new drain plug.

The problem is, one of the previous owners stripped the paint of the engine. This has caused the bolt to get corroded in. The bolt is an allen bolt and is good. I don't want to break the head of but i am about to drill it out and retap it out for another bolt. I guess I will let it sit for a few days and keep soaking it but if anyone know of something better to put on it or something else to try fill me in. Can I heat this thing up with a torck or will that cause problems?

I would think you could heat it if you are carefull. You wouldnt want to set any oil on fire. Or burn the trike up.

Your best bet bring to shop let them remove.if they strip it have it taped to next size up.

How about cutting it into a 6 sided bolt, and using a socket to remove it? A Dremel would come in handy...

Still soaking. About to go nuts. I have used the cutting into six sided bolt trick before but on this one I think it would not help. The problem isn't that the allen socket is stripped out. It is in great shape but it will not budge. i am using an allen socket wrench with about a 2 1/2 foot breaker.

Is there another way yo get the majority of the oil out? If I could do that for now That would be great. how about turning it on its side and draining it out of the filter area?

By the way I did run it to the Honda shop today and they wanted 2hrs. minimium to do it, if they had to drill and retap. OUCH!!!

Thanks for the help,
Dan

try to heat it with a propane torch. if it strips it is no big deal. just use a STANDARD tap the next size up. you will not even have to drill. just tap it. then flush it very well with several quarts of oil to get out any shavings you may get in there. this whole process took 15 minutes on my 250r. start it and let it run for about 15 minutes at an idle to warm up the oil, then drain it one more time. heck you can even use the cheap oil while flushing it.

It is amazing what a 16 lbs. sledge hammer will do. Anyone got a really big tap. Just kidding. A lot of patience, persistence, and liquid wrench and out it comes. Thanks for all the advice. I finally got so pissed of I decided to get the torch out and just heat the heck out of it without compromising the bike in any way. It worked. It has been awhile since the oil was changed. I bet since before the last owner. The washer was all corroded and I still may need to tap it since it looks like the first couple of threads are messed up. Anyway thanks again.
