I wanted to know what this is called or what the part number is ...Its the peice in a '84 200s recoil starter, its under the cover and under the cover with the D ring. Its the peice that the little teeth with the springs sit in. It has little grooves for them to sit in. Mine cracked and i was wondering what i need to buy. and if anyone has some parts from the recoil of the 200s. or probably any 200 with recoil start.

hey if you dont have the decompression hooked up dont bother buying a new part from dennis kirk buy the whole thing from honda and get the decompression if you keep using it without the decompression it will doo the same thing again and again.

to say it will keep braking it with out the decompresion is wrong . i have two 200s w/o the decomp. they have not had the decomp.in 4years and NEVER broke this part!!!! i even run a Wiseco10.5 to1 piston and never broke this part!!!! so don't try and scare ppl with the WRONG info.

Just use common sense.. If it didnt need it they wouldent put it there. Honda seems to be quite ahade of its time in the 80s and 70s for that matter if you aske me, so you mat want to invest in it its cheap its not like its a 500 dollar part.

It's there for easy cranking the same reason they used an 8to1 piston. use common sense:wtf: you don't like a second opinion:wtf:

OK I agree that we agree to disagree.i think that if you where doing a complete restoration than yes put it back.but if not take the whole thing out and put the cam cover off a 200x on and be done with it. and from what i hear they only work about half the time anyway so it's no loss. and yes it is my opinion. i thought that was still allowed here.

I have found with my machine if you let the lever fall against the cooling fin you actuallt loose compression. so i like the 200x head idea.
