I just got an email by someone I won't identify who was very upset that I edited a post of his which was inflammatory. I put "this post has been moderated " in place of what he said. I was acting tongue-in-cheek but apparently he didn't see it that way so he has deleted all his posts and says he's gone for good. :wtf:

Anyway, I try and keep all the ****-slinging confined to the fight club. What would y'all rather I do when a post is out of line? edit it blank, put something stupid in place of it, leave it be, move the whole post even though the rest might have been ok...?

I guess you can't please all the people all the time.

this is your board and your rules. i think there is some ubb software that puts ***** in place of foul language. a little cussing is no big deal to me, but flaming a person is childish.

Dan i think you did exactly the right thing. If someone has a beef with another member they should take it to the fight club. Anyone posting in the other forum`s should know they are subject to being edited. After all this site is about 3wheeler`s and for 3wheeler`s. Not romper room like some people think. I think the people and the info here are priceless. And someone who is willing to throw it all away over a hissy fit. I say CYA!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone knows that profanity is supposed to be restricted to the fight club, and if someone bashes someone else (swearing at them, etc) they know their post is subject to being edited. I've "moderated" posts before also, and warned the post-er to keep it cool, or go the fight club...

Now, who was it??? :)

It was MikeMing. You'll notice all his posts are gone b/c he went back and deleted all of them. :wtf:

I could also copy the entire post and leave it intact in the fight club & edit the posts in whatever forum it was originally in... that might be too much of a PITA though.

I think that you should reserve judgement for each individual case. Some may need to be deleted, some moved or whatever. I worked(volunteered) as a sysop at Compuserve for several years, and I really enjoyed it as well. I found a good way to handle these situations, ( I moderated at the Firearms Forum for a while, and you know how political these things can get) was to put the message into a private section, or I would move it from public view and post a private message informing the errant forum member of the problem with the post. People who reacted in poor taste were usually locked out by the Forum Administrator.

BTW, I would be interested in lending a hand here if the opportunity arose. Best -

I agree with Terminator, what you did was right Dan....but each situation will be diff. and should be handled accordingly. I didn't know MikeMing, nor did I see his objectionable post, but if he not only left, but deleted all of his posts as well......:thmbsdwn: I'd say there was something more going on with him. Don't sweat it Dan, just roll with it......you're right, you can't please all the people all the time.

well I can always copy the thread to the fight club and blank out the offending post(s) in the forum they started in. I think that'll be the new policy. thanks for the support guys. :lala: :lmao:

This may be a little late but, if I had a say in it I would delet the stupid $h!t they say and put something that would make them look even dumber, and in addition I would send them a message telling them that that all beef is to be taken to the fight club and delt with there.

As for me, Im a lover not a fighter;) :D

Just don't edit my post Dan;) ;)
