Hey all,
I got my 350X today and love it! Threw a new plug in it right off the bat as the old one was pretty nasty. It would idle for about 15 seconds or so, cut out and then it was really hard to get restarted. Could it just be vapor lock? It was about 90 degrees today and humid as all get out. Other than that, when it was running, it ran great, no smoke or odd noises. Any ideas as to why it was cutting out?
Thanks guys,
Matt

Interesting thing about a 350X, when they die while running, they are really hard to restart.
Did you have the choke on? Where did you get the trike from? One question would be if it is jetted for where you are, or where it came from?
Does it run OK when riding? Can you keep it running by giving it a little gas?
My 350X behaves like that sometimes when idling, I just get on and ride.

It ran great when it was running. I haven't owned a ATV with a choke in a long time, so I forgot about the choke, lol. I bought it about 45 min from where live, so its jetted for this area.

A plugged up pilot jet and airscrew damage or missing oring can cause idling issues.
I only need half choke for 20 seconds, then no choke for another 30 seconds to warm it up. Then it idles fine and I take off and beat the ever living snot out of it :D

I forgot to ask if this idle issue was when it was cold or warm. The choke should not be an issue when the trike is warm.
Your 350X sounds a lot like mine, which has never idled well. I just got into the habit of shutting it of quickly whenever I am going to get off, and then it starts right back up. If I stay onboard, I have to blip the throttle regulary to keep mine running.
You just got your 350X. I have found that each one has a personality of its own, you will have to determine how to handle yours.

The idle issue was happening when it was warm. Aside from the idle issue, it was running great, had plenty of power and ran nice and smooth without any hiccups or hesitation. Throttle response was instantanious once I put the new plug in it. The old plug was fouled up pretty bad.

If the plug was a mess and its not idling well I'd pull the carb apart and air filter and clean them well. Then you can at least see how its jetted and make corrections if needed. At least you can rule them out.
