I recently got my 200x back from my cousin who was "trike sittin" while I went on deployment and when I got it back I noticed the spark plug will sometimes pop out of the thread on the head when I'm revving it. I inspected the threads and they are all stripped to s**t. I guess he tried putting different sized sparkplugs in there. My friend told me we could just heli coil it and that it should work. Have any of you guys tried this before or had this problem? How did you fix it? Thanks

You will have to jerk the head otherwise you will get metal shavings in there.
instead of helicoil, which is built somewhat like a spring(you will have to drill and tap then screw in heli) I have put in a time sert you still have to drill and tap ...but they are one solid piece of stainless and wont unwind as I have seen heli do before.
time serts have a web ad

i would take it (the head only) to an automobile machine/head shop. they deal with this all the time. $20 and you woulf be out the door with a good repair.
The trick with useing the heli coil is the adhesive you use to hole the coil in place. I use a hight quality liquid steel. The bigges prob with the heli coil is if not bonded to the head good the coil likes to come out with the spark plug. If you are not good at drilling and tapping I would say bring it to a shop. You can turn the head in to a pease of junk if not careful.

i have used them on lawn mowers and a motor scoter before and they worked out pretty good, but they maight know work for this application because of the higher compression
