i have a 1986 200x with stock jetting how when i took all the dics out is ran great. How many discs should i have in riding at around 3000 to 4000 feet. And if i where to put a bigger jet in would it give me more powre??

If your machine, being a 4 stroke, is running well already, you should not have to rejet untill you reach the 5000 foot mark. 2 stroke on the other hand are more finnicky, and require rejetting and fiddling on more frequent altitude increments.

From what I understand the disc's themselves are for your preferences. The more you have on the quieter the exhaust the less the more noisier.

Yes, Jenn would be correct. They have nothing to do with how "well" the machine runs liek the Jets in the carb do, theyre jsut to adjsut performance.

I had a Supertrapp on my CBR600. I had to take the end cap and discs off of it every year to go run it through emissions (the sniffer had to violate my muffler):D

It sounded wayyyy cool without it though! Isn't it bad for your valves or something (cools too fast??) to run it straight like that long-term???

hey jenn i would say you got it backwards,,, more discs more noise,,,, i have 4 discs in my 350x and its livable on noise ,, it had 10 when i got it ,,,, it was very noisy then TOOOO noisy

Yeah i think kaseys right, my neighbor has a super trap on his car and he has 6 disks in it and it is loud! he said when he ran one it was quiet, but the whole exaust system turned cherry red, go figure huh?

More disks = more noise, and also = more exhaust flow. Less disks = more back pressure = less noise. If you open up airbox, two 1 inch holes in lid or no lid, re-jetting should be done. With no or very few disks, exhaust characteristics are very close to stock, so stock jetting is fine.
