The next mod I was thinking about is going to be one of these cams. Was hoping I could get some feedback from those of you that have done either one, as to the performance increase.

I know the xr200 cam is supposed to increase mid-high power and the xl185s cam is supposed to increase low-mid. Would be nice to hear some real world results.

Currently, I have a wiseco 10.25 piston, cobra exhaust, and port and polish, and custom skid plates, of course. Honestly, as it is, I think it's great. It constantly amazes me, what that bike will do, with that engine. We mob these things everywhere. We take em rock crawling down nasty washes and creeks. Up washed out hills & trails that people are like, "you went up that!, on a 3 wheeler!!??" Smashing rocks left and right. And it just keeps on going. I should put an energizer bunny sticker on the back.

It tops out around 55mph. Maybe cause there is only like 1-2 psi in the tires.
Would be nice to get a little more top end, but I would be happier if I could get better low-mid, and keeping the top, I think? I'm not sure if the mid-high cam would be better for hill climbs. I mean, most of the time, going up steeper pulls, it's screaming in 2nd or 1st. But then again, most of the riding is on trails and not at full throttle.

What do ya guys think?

Did you put an aftermarket exhaust on it? Something like a SuperTrapp will help all around.

I am not sure the XL185 will fit?
I bored out a XL185 here a while back. A XR200 piston is 2mm larger PLUS .025" TALLER. I had to cut out the head in order to make it fit. Just around the edge so I could use the 185 head gasket. Yes I had .015" clearance when I finished. I think he won his class with it. Was slightly harder to kick over and everyone wanted to know what he did to it. No one lists pistons for them anymore. I can't remember what the cam looked like? Not sure it was same thing as XR/ATC 200's style?
The XR200 cam is good for a mild hop up. Any bigger they recommend valve springs. I have a "all around" cam in mine. Like Powroll and Megacycle offers. I can't complain at all about it. Pulls good from idle to redline. I also have a 26mm XR carb and other mods.
I was going the one size bigger Mega cam..but funds ran out before I ordered. BUT..I do have some type of cam that is .015" LARGER lobes than the all around cam I have in it. I installed the larger cam. It had a lope at idle..Couldn't run it over half throttle. ran out of gas. A friend said it looked like a full race cam they used to run and NEEDED a 30mm carb???? He said I need to degree it in also. He thought it was suppose to be on the 2-4 degree cam gear mark? So it sits in my tool box.

Well, supposedly both cams are supposed to fit right in the 200x. The reason I wanted one of those is cause servicehonda.com sells them for like $65. I thought mega cycle and powroll's mild cam is almost $300!

Same part number? If not. Find the one that most fits your style. Personally I would go bigger of the two.

Just to add about the piston thing. He used a 10.25 piston in his 185. I heard that if you use the flat top, you wouldn't have to machine the head?

I ran a xr200 cam in my 84 200x, loved it!!! Seemed to me to have power freom idle to top end... An revved quicker, take that cobra exhaust an hang it on the shelf, put a dg rcm on it, the cobra exhausts are all bark an no bite
