1985 250ES says " rotate the crankshaft clockwise and align the "T" mark in the rotor with the index mark. The piston must be TDC on compression stroke. "

is there anyways to confuse that? i mean if i line up the marks, that is TDC right?
Also, says to adjust the intake and exhaust to the same amoount "0.003 in" (0.8 mm).
do i adjust them both at the same time. i was thinking that it was adjust the intake at one point , then go 180 degree on the crank and then adjust exhaust.

i guess the question is, line up the marks, then adjust both valves to the measurment without moving the crankshaft between valves.

 im making it alot harder than it is i know!

If the rotor is on the T mark and the piston is at TDC you should be fine. The cam spins at half the speed of the crank. So if it wasnt on the compression stroke the T mark would be pointing down instead of up.

And when the piston is at TDC. Both valves are closed. So go ahead and adjust them both at the same time.
