So I was at a government auction and picked up this '08 KTM 450EXCR dirtbike for VERY little money. It has only 7 hours/168 miles on it. It's setup to be street legal with headlights, brake lights, turn signals, etc. Anyone ever investigated doing a conversion on one of these? It appears to use a regular steel frame so no tricky aluminum welding to deal with. Hmmmm...:burnout:

getting a custom swinger and triples aren't that big of a deal. However, I've never liked the look of the straight bike-trike conversions so for me the frame would need to be modded and that's where I'd run out of talent.

That bike would bring enough cash to buy most any trike!

I have been tossing this around for over a year and working with TPC, but never followed thru yet. Things are changing around here so finances are different...

I really am torn. I only paid $2k for it so the $ is right regardless. I'd really rather build a Kawi though. I'm not up on the latest bike prices, but I'm pretty sure I could sell this one for enough to buy a Kawi. However, the KLX450R that seems to be the best choice to build uses an aluminum frame that will be an extra PITA to mod.
Hell, if gas prices keep going up I may just throw some street tires on it and start riding it every day.

do we have any search-engine gurus here that can find a pic of one of these (must be 08+) WITHOUT the plastics?
