i persin i bought my 200x from had the head shaved to increase compression to 12:1.i dont wanna have to have to run race gas or the longevity of my engine, i just add an extra base or head gasket to bring my compression down? what would happen if i just ran 91 pump gas?

Well I know on my 250R I run a thinner head gasket to raise the compression a little, so I am sure that if you put a thicker head gasket on it would lower the compression. Also I only run 92 pump gas and my bike runs fine.

You could mill the top of the piston to kill some compression too...

A thicker head gasket would work if you can find one. I do not if 2 gaskets will work. They might blow out. I never thought about the base gasket that might be a better place to add a gasket, i do not think there is as much pressure there. What piston is in there? there is a 12:1 piston, are you sure the head was milled to get the hi compression? a different piston can lower the compression. as for fuel run 1/2 race gas and 1/2 premiun, with 12:1.

you want a thick copper gasket, I don't know if they make em for wheelers though

it has a stock piston with fresh rings, or at least thats what the kid said. i havent pulled it apart yet and dont want to if i dont have to. i just dont wanna fry the engine and i dont wanna pay $3 a gallon for gas, its not like im racing it. if i can just get away with using an extra gasket that would be great.

1: with a stock comp of 9.6:1 i really doubt you can cut that head enough to raise the comp. into the danger zone.
2 i doubt he had the head cut, he probably read it in a magazine and thought it sounded cool. it's very hard to verify if the heads been cut unless somebody did sloppy work and you can see the cut.
3 run hi octane pump gas and listen for the knock,if you don't recognize the sound ask older people around you about it i'm sure somebody's vehicle does it. they run the motors so lean now with the electronic controls it's not uncommon to find a newer car that rattles.
4 most of what people tell you when you buy a bike is BS
