I noticed my driveshaft boot on my 250SX is ripped along the top edge. Should I replace this and does anyone have any experience changing one out? And does anyone have an extra? Or know where I could pick one up? Thanks

you should change that thing ASAP & do NOT ride again until you do. you don't want to know how much a new driveshaft costs.

If you don't have alot of money to buy a new boot seal it together TEMPORARILY with some silicon RTV. Just try to avoid getting any water in there. Also while you're working on your SX take the rear differential fill cap off and make sure there's no water in there too.
And check the gear oil in the differential. if the seal on the drive shaft is bad your differential is full of water. Because bears and seals+laboro=big $$$$

Ok, my differential nut is tight enough that I stripped the hell out of it without loosening it up! When I get it off, what kind of lube should I put in there? 90 wt gear oil????
Thanks

I use standard automotive rear-end gear lube. 80W-90 or something like that.

don't mess around with a cracked boot. if you get dirt down inside you'll rear up the seal. This will allow all that nice dirt to work it's way down into the rear. In other words $$$$$.
You can remove the swing arm like someone suggested. When I replaced mine, I pulled the rear (4 BOLTS) Remove the vent line and brake cables. The shaft will slide out of the tube with the rear. This will give you a chance to see if your seal is ok. And allow you to clean around the pinion shaft. Make sure the steel sleeve for the shaft is clean inside also. Like anything else, cleaning and prepping for re-assembly takes all the time. All in all, it really doesn't take that long.
If you do remore always yes always use a sealer for metal to metal bolt ups to keep water out. every thing from eng to axle outer seals must be sealed to keep water out. even the brake drum must be sealed to keep water an mud out. if not your brakes will wear quick.
