I was trying to start my bike last night, well after it caught on fire I decided to check it out and see what was wrong and I found a screw missing on the left side of the carb?
this diagram( http://www.powersportspro.com/partsfish/Displayfiche.asp?Section=201180&ID=2949 ) say's its a throttle screw #23? what would happen if I started it with that part missing? is it even possible that it would start w/out it? anyway I'm not sure if it came out when I was messin with it or if it wasn't in it at all:doh:

As far as i can tell from the picture. It looks like your idle speed adjuster. It would run with out it in there. All it does is hold the slide up in the carb so that it can get air to idle. So it should run with out it in there. But it would suck air through that hole.

yeah it did run but I wasn't sure about it cuz its 2stroke and 2strokes are all new to me, btw I am leaking gass badly but nothing else is open? I dunno what the hell is going on
The scew missing will make it run leen. the fuel leek sound like a floot problem. is it coming out the vent holes?

Yep i agree the gas leak is probable a stuck float or a bad needle and seat. So the float bowl is filling up and the gas is coming out of the overflow hose.

I worked on it, put the pipe on plugged the hole and kick and kicked it but nothing. It pops like before but only now cuz the pipe is on the pipe shakes when it pops.
I diden't mention this before but if the reeds diden't seel fully, like there is a little gap in the middle reed on one, would that make it not start? or have difficulty starting?
alright one more thing I promise, I found some clutch plates that fit and put them in, some have crud on them still, when I push it in second gear it kinda slips alittle, is this normal or are the plates bad? just wondering if its worth it to mess with it before I get the motor running:confused:
Yes the reeds have to seal. No case pressure no fuel to cylinder.
back fires out carb starts fire. Not knowing what trike you have i'm just guessing on the clutch but on the tri-z the clutch center that clamps the plates is derrectional.( will not clamp in all lowcations ) i have to keep rowtaing it till if goes in against the plates.

So what your telling me is that if there is a gap in the reeds that it will not get gas to the piston? Well I have gas getting to the combustion chamber and igniting and blowing flames out the PIPE! I was wondering if that would make it hard to start, still diden't get a clear enough answer to start messin with it so I'll wait till I am convinced. thanks anyway BTW when you mean slip untill they catch, you mean that they are what like curved in a way or something? I know how clutches work and I have a tr-z manual I know what you ment but am I missing something?
