I have a 1981 185 (honda) engine. The frame is shot on that. Would the 185 engine fit in one of the front suspension models? What other frames would the 185 engine fit in? Would this be a good idea? Please help!

Also, if I bought a 18-82 frame and put a suspended front fork in, would that work?

That motor would bolt right into any of the newer 185s/200s frames with front suspension. But if you really want suspension. Put it in a 83-85 200x frame. The motor will bolt right up and you would have front and rear suspension. But you have to go with the 200x exhaust. To fit the frame. So keep your eyes open for a cheap 200x rolling chassie.

If I went with the 200x way, would I have to use the 200x fenders and seat?

I heard that 200 forks with suspension work, is that true? I want to start on my project but................ I can't get going without parts and information.

you can swap over the forks from a later model 200 with suspension, but you still won't have any rear suspension. if your trike is really thrashed I'd look for a cheap 200x. I don't think the front plastic will work but you can probably make the rear stuff fit.

I am not 100% sure on the plastic. But if i am not mistaken the 81 185 used a 2 piece rear plastic with glove box in between and that is totaly different then the 200x style. Even if you switch the front to like a 185s or 200s front suspension. They still only had about 4 inches of travel. And didnt work that great. The 200x i think has 10 inches in front and 8 inches in the rear. And are a machine worth investing some money into. You dont want to take on a major restore on a 185 because it will probable cost you a lot more in the long run then it is worth. So i would keep your eye out for a blown 200x. You could probable find one fairly cheap. And even if it does need plastic. At least it will will worth forking out some cash for. Because you know some one will allways buy a 200x with stock motor or not. And the older no suspension models no matter how nice they are. Are just hard to sell. So save up your money and start looking for 83-85 200x part`s. There is enough on ebay now you could just about build one from part`s from the auctions. And i guarantee that you will love it. And we are allways here to help you with it :).
