Now it says that the Cora Utility Series system will increase HP. Does that mean it comes with an oversized header pipe? Is it the same size oversized pipe as on the megaphone series and will it give you the same size HP gain as a megaphone system? I know that everybody must sacrifice silence for HP.

or....... could you get a steel megaphone and interchange the megaphone core with a silent core without the spark arrestor. Would that be any louder then the Utility series pipe? As you can guess like everybody else I want more HP but resonable dB levels? Can it be done?

it's always been my understanding that the utility series is basically a stock replacement. however, I doubt they'd bother making 2 different size pipes (or maybe they would). have you tried emailing them?

My cobra's a megaphone (older model) and I think it did come with a slightly larger then stock manifold.

my brothers cobra utility was a slip on so stock header
he had gain in low end

Theres a couple things that will get more ponies out of a 4 stroke and a Cobra exhaust certainly aint it. Cobras dont jsut let the engine breathe......They let it puke it's brains out. ;)

well I understand that gaining HP means loosing dBs but I would sure think it would have a bigger header pipe? And I wouldn't think a aftermarket exhaust pipe would chock an engine but make it breathe better. I'll drop Cobra an email and I'll let everybody know.

Heres what they wrote back:


There will be a small increase because the pipe is more free flowing
than
the OEM pipe. The pipes are loud and you can quiet them down a little
by
adding more packing to the core. I do not know what size the OEM pipe
is so
I do not know if the Cobra head pipe is larger. The head pipes are all
the
same size for all the Cobra pipes we offer for this bike. You cannot
interchange the cores. Thanks for asking Cobra, ride safe.

what about those Supertrapp 3" steel external disk silencers? How are they? Are they loud?
