Has anyone ever tried using pvc pipe glue to fix cracks in atv fenders?

works great until the fender gets wet, or recieve any stress, then the glue starts to crack, and makes the plastic look really bad.

the front fender of my '85 was shattered & reassembled using large amounts of what appears to be jbweld underneath. it actually doesn't look bad from a distance. :D

the actual glue doesnt crack, its joining surface between the glue and the plastic will break apart, therefore the glue cracks away. the reason is because when pvc glue is used with pipes, it is applied on the inside of the female coupler, and outside of the male coupler, and slid together, where glue will be adhearing to glue, and causing a snug fit when it cures because the pipe does not expand. but when you are putting pieces of fenders together, they can easily expand when stress is put on the plastic, causing the glue to break apart.

PVC glue melts pvc pipe that is what bonds it. not the glue. trike plastic is not all plastic. i think it has some rubber maid garbage cans add to it.

Bondo fiberglass repair kits work well for repairing broken fenders that can still be pieced together with very little gap. It has a fiberglass resin that you put underneath the surface of the crack and is pretty strong.

most trike, quad, and dirt bike fenders are made of polyethylene and not pvc. ... similar plastics, but not the same. they are both thermoform plastics (as opposed to thermoset plastics such as fiberglass) but they are not the same, therefore pvc glue will give unpredictible results with trike/quad/dirt bike fenders.
