spining after engine is turned off??

after riding I go to park my trike and turn the engine off and when the motor shuts off I hear this thing spinning inside the motor. it will go on for about 5-8 seconds then slow to a stop.
I was thinking it had something to do with the auto clutch, it just started this not to long ago, but is gettting worse. any idea's?:wtf: :doh: :bash:

My sx does that
it stops on a compresion strock and kiks back.
the starter goes wizzzzzzzz thats ok it's that dam clunk
at the end that i don't like, it dont sound good.
and i haven't figured it out yet.

It diden't do that when I got it about 2 months ago? and it just seems to do it for longer and longer periods of time

Sometimes some of the old timers at the honda shops now about those types of things id call and ask service. i doo it all the time they must hate me!

My 85 225DX does the same thing....... whirring inside and then after 5 or 6 seconds CLUNK. I think it's amusing myself. Mine's done it since I bought it a year ago and I've put on many miles. I always figured it was the large gear on the crankshaft driven by the starter that can idle freely in one direction but turns the crankshaft in the other direction. For some reason when the bike is running the gear must be turning and then when the engine is shut off the gear overruns the crankshaft until it all of a sudden slows to the point where something engages and CLUNK, it comes to a stop. I wouldn't worry about it.

My friends does the same thing, while mine hasn't. We seem to think it's the starter clutch, with the engine off it's the only thing that could still be spinning. I wouldn't say it's to much to worry about just some personality!

Here's what I was looking for the first time.

Also while going through a sx eng. i found that the other thing that spins free is the kick start gears . this may be the clunk,
it's the only thing that spins free that can lock up.

Well I am kinda in the middle on this, I figured out it only spins if you have it in neutral and turn the engine off, but in gear it won't do that, also if you turn it off in neutral and then when you hear the spinning shift into gear and it jumps forward so that makes me think it has something to do with the drivetrain? But Im not a expert so anybody could be right.
