Actually, this was one of the easiest climbs at this location. I watched a guy last year bail out in this area and a 250R quad came down full wieght after flipping, and landed one back tire on the side of the guys head, and then continued on...........That guys' riding for the day was done on the spot. We figured without the helmut it would have hospitalized him at least......Anyway, this spot is a 15 minute drive from town, and provides hours of entertainment....:demon:

OUCH!!! That has got to hurt. Good thing he was wearing a helmet. . Only 10 minutes away. That`s not bad at all. It that some kind or old mine or sand pit?.

Yeah, it is a sand/gravel pit, and there are 2 wicked spots for climbs, and lots of room for other things. I love riding there!!:D I am hoping to get video footage one of these days for you guys, cause the pictures just don't get it done......:demon: Whoa!! I just noticed the picture file size has increased.......:headbang: Here is another shot. In this one I was taking small runs to set up a high mark competion, works every time!!

What gear was that 350x climbing in? I'm working up some courage to do some bigger hills and was wondering what gear is best for a hill with that steep of a grade?

I believe he was in third, but I can double check for you. Here is some advice on hill climbing.........Hit the bottom as fast as you are comfortable with, but also in a gear you can maintain to the top. That way, there is no chance of blowing a shift. You should be able to tell if the hill is to long to make in that gear. If you can't tell, and you have room, takes runs at it that you can turn out of. If you turn out with some speed, you will NOT tip, because of centrifical force. Then you ride down, note what gear you were in, how far you made it, plus get a good look at the upper part of the hill. This allows you to adjust your attack safely. If you are getting close to the top with to much speed, simply let off the throtle and coast up!! This is the tactic for extremely steep tops, even straight up and down!! Once you are a decent hill climber, then start working on shifts while climbing. But, be warned!! They are NOT fun on a 250R!!!! The front end is hard enough to keep down on a steep grade. I get as far over the front as I can for some climbs, which puts my feet at a bad angle for shifts. Plus, downshifting an R with throtle is sure to make the front end light going up hill!! No doubt the X is much tamer. :D

Nice spot Cat,
Dan,
Little Sahara would be like this only sandy and taller in some places but there isn't anything at top except a ridge and then its back down you go!!

I agree with Troll great pics and advise:D Momentum is key in hill climbing..Start on hills you CAN Turn out of so you can get a feel for the hill and when the front of your machine starts to get light..Also if you have to downshift going up....shift early to keep the revs up in the motor...dont let i bog down and lose your momentum...Like Cat said..if your getting to the top to quick...let off and coast over(make sure you know whats on the other side  )http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid39/p9053e7e94810b2c530349f1fb85494ff/fd0a164d.jpg.orig.jpg This is steeper then it looks in the pic

For pic filesize resizing download this tool. It's 222kb and a piece of cake to resize pics. Physical size stays the same while the filesize and image quality changes. Super simple to use and shows quality and filesize with a slider in realtime, so you can see what it will look like the farther you reduce size. When you open program hit File- open jpeg or bitmap and browse to desired photo, then move slider to your preference, then File-Save jpeg

hey, before you resize the actual file size, make the picture PHYSICALLY smaller using the PAINT program. open picture with "paint" by right clicking, then "open with.... drop down menu to "paint" once it is opened, go to "image", then sketch/skew. change both numbers evenly. make it say.....50% of original. see how it looks, then when you get it to where ya want it, save as. then use the resize program to make the file size smaller.
