View Full Version : engine question
are clutch shoes supposed to fit really really tight when you first put them in? i got a set for my 200s from dk and when i put them in and pull the engine over the grap the clutch housing even when you pull really slow.i am not talking clutch plates but the shoes towards the front of the engine. it all looks the same as it did when it came apart. are the shoes suppose to be soaked in oil or something before you instale them ? thanks for your reply

Are you sure you have the shoes going in the right direction?.If i recall i think they would go in either way. Also what do your springs look like?. Are they not pulling the shoes in tight enough?. And it is possable that the shoes are bigger then stock ones. I have had to file down brake shoes that i have got that were a little bigger then stock. Just to get the drum to go over the, . So if nothing else helps. Take a file and file them down slightly until they can spin inside the hub.
i am talking about the cyntrifical clutch but do you think i could grind it down anyways. thanks

Yea i know you are.
I know that on some after market brakes shoes i have got that they were a little biger then stock. And i assume the the clutch shoes could be the same way. It dosnt seem like they are really picky about the specs on the aftermarket ones. Like they would be if they came from honda. So you might have to take a little off of each one of the shoes. Just to make them fit right.
I almost think they make them a little big to begine with. Kind of a size it to fit kind of deal.
But if everything is in there right. And the hub wont spin freely around them then you are going to have to take a little bit off of them.
i did what you said and it works good now all i got left to do is put a yiming chain in ..great:rolleyes: kyle
thanks

Good deal. Glad you got them in there. Thats one disadvantage about after market parts. Some times you have to tweak them a little.
