Question about '85 250sx rear brake...

I took the rear drum off to inspect the brakes and noticed that the service manual calls for grease to be applied the the lip seal that rings the backing plate. The service manual doesnt specify the type of grease, will regular multi-purpose wheel bearing/chassis grease work?
