Of course it will run. The only problem is it will rev out in like .01 seconds. The pipe is there to help the power curve. And supply back pressure to the engine so it can make horse power. With out the pipe the engine will scream but not make much power or torque.
For instance my yamaha snowmobile burn a hole in the exhaust. And would still run fine. It would scream up to about 50mph. But that is all it had. And with the pipe fixed it would do 70mph.

As Fuzzy said but i wouldnt reccomend runnin or even startin a 2 stroke up without any pipe on,even though i,v done it before.
Talk about noisy

as with a 4 stroke, you have a really good chance at ruining the block if it is run for a decent amount of time. I wouldn't.

its just that were arguing...we argue alot..my budy is liek 6 3 or something liek that and probably has good 80 pounds on me and alot of our arguments end in small fights....i lost a couple earings in one...so i gotta say that proving him vrongh is pretty hard ...and im too stubborn to admit i am...well gueess noone is right on this one..cause i say ya need an expansion cahmer he said that it dont......well obviously its needed but i guess not to run..
P.s. i got another question...say i want to build a simple expansion chamber for a small 5 hp 2 stroke motor we got for a minibike....how can i design it? im sure theres somekind of formula or trick to the angles
