View Full Version : here a question for ya
all right i got a good question.i got no spark. i followed the wires back to the three wires coming out of the engine on the left side of my 200s from the alternaotor/stator?down near your foot.one is yellow one is red and black and one is green. i have power one the yellow wire witch runs the lights if i read the manual right.i followed the yellow wire and it goes to the light switch inside the switch control. so i am pretty sure thats lights. i foolwed the green wire and it has connections about every inch for another green wire to run off of it. the red and black wire run up to the brain? (i guess that is what it is called)where there is a bunch of wires leading in to. i called the honda shop and the guy was an azz and said he wouldnt trouble shoot over the phone and that i could bring it in on thursday. i said nope.not for 80 bucks and hour plus parts i aint so here is my question. witch of the three wires(red@black,yellow,green)are supposed to have power.is it possible for one of the two coils on the alternator stator assembly to go bad? any help at all is greatly appreciated .i have been trying for two days now to figure it out.kyle
you should have two power wires one groundand one signal wire.
alternator wires yellow-power to lights, black- power to cdi box
( you may not get a reading on a small amount of power )
dark green- ground, lavender & yellow- signal to fire coil, ( small pulse on meter, to small and quick to get power reading)
my book does not give a red
what should i set the meter box thing with the needle that swings back and forth on brian fart cant think rx1 or what?

first start with the basics. check the resistance in ohms from the red/black wire to ground(side of the motor case) this wire has to have at least 105 ohms of resistance to even have a week spark, the more the better. then moving up the line skip the cdi box, more than likely its fine. go to the trigger modual. the think with the blu and i think green wire. anyway, its on the side of the head and runs off the cam. open up the cover and take out the module. take some 220 grit paper and clean up the metal thing on the module and both sides of the magnet that spins. but be careful with the magnet dont try to turn it! use the recoil to turn the motor over so you can sand both sides. put the trigger module back in but as your tightinging it push it as close as you can to the rotor (magnet) without it touching. then see if it has spark. if not next go to the coil, take all the wires off sand down the connections for the ground and make sure it has a good connection with the plug wire. and last thing i would check maby this should be your first if it has a ngk plug boot with a resistor, take the boot off and hold the wire by the head and make shure its not just a bad boot, i have had this happen to me, and this is how i figured it all out. good luck!
