225DX top end leakin need ur opinion plz look

my DX is leakin oil pretty bad on the top end im gonna have to replace the gasgets but should i go ahead and see if the cyl;ynder needs to be bored or just new rings and valve seals it smokes a little
any advise would be helpfule

I would have the cylinder measured for wear and for out of round. If you dont have the tools to do it then call around to your local machine shops and see what they would want to check it for you.

You could just throw rings in there and hope for the best. It all depends on how much time you want to work on it. And if you are willing to take it back apart again if you need to.

When bought Rings and Oil Seals for my 200ER the worked out great. Fairly cheep to. Now my DR is starting to smoke a little so I plan on boring it out a bit... The 225 was a nice upgrade from the 200 but now I need more power again!

either way you're gonna have to do the work so you might as well pull the head. it may need new seals around the valve stems or the bore could be getting weak. once the head is off look for scars, ridges, and other bad stuff in the cylinder itself. good luck!
