Hi,
Does anybody know what (if any) the differences are between the 85 and 86-87 250sx handlebars?
Reason I'm asking is because they have different part numbers: 85 is 53100-HA6-000 and the 86-87 is 53100-HA6-681
I tried to order an 85 I was told by service honda that the 85 has been discontinued, I dont know if the 86-87 has been or not.
Thanks
Fuzzy

I think the difference might be a keyed ignition. But i am not sure. So they might of had a little differene so that the ignition could mount on the handlebars itself.
Other wise the only other difference i could think of is if they changed the clamps also between them models. You might be able to check in to that and see if they are the same. If they are a different number then you will have to take some measurments and see where the knurl is on your bars and maybe have some one else measure theres and see if it is the same.

When I checked servicehondas parts search, it shows the -681 as discontinued, and the -000 and -680 as available. Things like bars where there is a large aftermarket, and honda did not sell many stock ones were the first parts to get discontinued. I would not be supprised if all the OEM honda handlebars for the 250sx were discontinued.
Hey Fuzz - my '85 and '87 SX both have keyed ignitions with what looks like identical dashes on the handlebars. The handlebar clamps are both 5 1/2" center to center. I think the difference in the part #'s is likely due to a change in suppliers or possibly a very slight difference in bend, heighth, etc. I don't know for sure, but I would think either bar would fit any of the SX's without too much "home engineering". I'm not running stock bars on either trike - I have the (bent) stock bars for the '87. The '85 has a set of dirt bike Moose bars that were on it when I got it. They were WAYYYY too wide (looked like a longhorn steer!) so I cut them down to match the width of my stock '87 bars, and they work fine. The bars that are on my '87 came off of a '84 XL250 and are AMAZINGLY close to the stock bend. They are even knurled in almost the exact place as the stock bars. The most noticable difference is the crossbar (the stock SX bars have no crossbar.)

Thanks for the info guys... I've been wanting to replace the dirt bike bars (too low) that are on my 250sx with stock (or near stock) bars. All the aftermarket bars Ive found so far have too narrow of spacing where the bars fit into the clamps.
