View Full Version : O-rings in bearing carrier?

I know that my '85 250r has 2 O-rings that go in the carrier. However, when I went to buy bearings & seals today the guy there told me not to use them & to pack it with waterproof grease instead. He said that the rings dry out & seize the carrier up.

what do you guys think?

hey dan i don't have any orings in any of my trikes,,, i do have a new set if you want them let me know ,,,,,

no i just didn't put them back in,, as often as i tear things apart i didn't think it was nessecary to be in there and i think crap will get in there even if they are in there ,,,,,,,,,,,

WHEN THE O RINGS DRY OUT LOTS OF LUCK ADJ. THE CHAIN GO W/ THE GREASE.

I dont have the o-rings in mine anymore either...Come to think of it..I put in one of those RAD twinrow carriers..and I dont even think it has the o-rings :shrug:

i've got them in mine but the conditions are total crap up here. there's actually a 3rd one that goes behind the brake mount.

what kind of grease have you guys been using? I was told to use waterproof grease, but hell I thought all grease was? :shrug:

BEL-RAY MAKES WATERPROOF GREASE YOUR LOCAL CYCLE OR MARINE SHOP SHOULD CARRY IT
