I let my 250r sit since saturday and went to start it today and primed her a few times and kicked it and kicked it, changed spark plug and kicked it and kicked it, not even a fire, then i couldnt even kick it over cus it felt like it was jammed so i figured i bent the crank so here i am taking the plastic/tank/muffler off and when i go to take the muffler off i hear something inside so i turn it upside down and a 1/4 gallon of gas comes out? :wtf: i take the air filter off and whoosh out comes gas, i take the tank off and the plug out and kick it over and i get plenty of spark and there was still gas pouring out the ex. opening and blowing out the spark plug hole, whats wrong with my carb?, rebuild time or?

Is there a screen filter in your tank. or sediment bowl on shut off.
it sounds like dirt holding open the float.
try cleaning it.

The carb float could be heavy or stuck down,letting the fuel run into the engine. Or the carb needle and seat could have a little debre holding it open a little.
I'd just pull it apart and fix it............Troll

you should always turn your petcock "off" when you aren't riding the trike too.

hey there 25or;)

looks like youve already been told,i 'v had the same prob b4,as ben said jus dismantle carb completely while u at it,may as well give it all good clean out!!hope its nothin more!!!

this piece of $hit is starting to piss me off, i took of the carb and cleaned it all goos with carb cleaner, then i put it back on and started her up, well i forgot to put the muffler bolt in so i shut it off(the engine seemed like it wasnt running right and didnt have too much power)and put the bolt on, and i go to start it again and nothing so i take the plug out and there is a little gas flying out of the cylinder and it wont start, what else could it be, im about ready to burn the piece ^*(& to the ground:fire:

when u cleaned carb out did u totally strip the carb down?id strip the carb COMPLETELY soak and clean every part,and if possible use compressed air to blow it all out,is all the needle valve & valve seat parts ok?any damage to the float itself??anyway i may not know what im on about:confused: jus tryin to help!!could be anythin to do with reeds ????

no i didnt strip it completly i just took the crab off, then took the bowl off and sprayed it all out with carb cleaner and i also took out the jet screw and sprayed it, the 3 wheeler was running great then i took off the silencer part (2nd part off muffller)and it started doing this, would that cause it?

hy

as i said im no mechanic,what i would do is remove muffler get all gas out,remove carb,completely strip to every last part,soak it all,use compressed air to clean,check all valves,needle and carefully check the float(small pin holes?),id also check reeds while u got carb soakin..............hope it helps

at this point I'd think about getting a new needle and seat...especially if your float is good. good luck!

Okay i took it off again and let it sit for a while and its still pumpin fuel in likes theres no tommorw, everything looked really clean and operiational inside the carb, what could it be? Should i just buy a new carb?, burn it :fire:???? Like i said before it was running great and then i took the silencer off, would that have anything to do with it?, and will a trx carb work on mine 86 atc 250R?
